At first glance, this looks like a simple question.

There is a faucet at the top.

Water begins dripping downward.

Below it sits a collection of numbered cups connected by pipes.

The obvious challenge seems to be figuring out which cup receives the water first.

But there's a catch.

Not every pipe in the picture actually works.

Some are blocked.

Some lead nowhere.

And some of the cups that appear to be part of the system are effectively useless.

then Cup 3 is the first numbered cup reached after Cup 1.
