President of the United States Donald Trump walked out on Truth Social, after competing on Sunday, August 2 at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey, claiming to have won the club championships in the age brackets Senior Men's and Super Senior Men's.
Trump stated that he finished with a result of 70 strokes. In the post, he also took the opportunity to brag about his golfing ability, while mocking the other players.
”The winning battle of the Bedminster Club Championship! Thank you very much to everyone who participated. I won in 70 strokes, and am so honored that, unlike the rest of the field, I have very little time to practice, as I am focused on many other things. It's called TALENT. I have it, and they don't!”, Trump is said to have expressed himself.

However, the post did not have the effect that Donald Trump hoped for. Instead, a heated debate started around the president's reputation on the golf course.
Social media was quickly flooded with allegations that Trump has benefited from questionable rulings, or manipulated his findings, during previous rounds. Some also focused on the video he posted, claiming that the photos raised even more questions about what happened during the championship.
An X user wrote: ”Look how fake that is when the ball just brakes. What a hell of a loser and cheater.”
Another asked himself: ”Did ’automatically’ count as ’that it went in the hole’? Just because it was on the green?”
A third joked: ”They use Majestic 12's alien technology on the golf balls.”
Elsewhere, another user claimed: ”There are clips of his caddy moving the ball for him. Just saying.”
Another person argued that Trump's ”cheating is well documented” and described it as not only ”obvious” without ”outside the bounds of reasonableness”.
And one person asked a question that has become a recurring theme every time Trump celebrates a golf victory: ”Funny. How many has he won that are NOT on his own golf courses?”
Trump has repeatedly screwed up his golfing. According to his own statement, he has also won dozens of club championships. Also in the past, the President has celebrated winning both the Senior and Super Senior championships at Bedminster.
In 2023, Trump announced another victory at Truth Social, writing: ”For some reason I'm just a good golfer/athlete. I have won many club championships, and it is always a great honor”.
Trump has firmly denied allegations that he is cheating.
Reilly's criticism of Trump is particularly striking because the two have known each other for years. The writer has admitted that he once thought the billionaire was almost likable.
